Weight Loss

The beauty in women is not considered to be just skin deep but also revolves around her well-being regarding health and mind. Being overweight is perhaps one of the most ambiguous health complications as weight can be easily put on, but takes time and patience to lose it. Because of the intricacy of weight loss, gain, and maintenance, women need to understand that a quick and effortless weight loss is worthless.

There have also been instances that refer to weight gain propelling cancer risk in women after menopause. Study refers that women, who gain weight as they age, especially if they do not take hormone replacement, can have a 45 per cent increased risk of breast cancer. Therefore, weight loss in women after menopause lowers the circulating estrogen thereby reducing the risk of breast cancer in a way.

Weight loss techniques over the years have been very diverse, ranging from innovative diet plans, fitness gadgets and trainers to diet pills, to the very latest trend of crash makeover by various weight loss surgeries. Losing weight safely and sensibly attributes to a multifaceted approach through weight loss programs that includes setting realistic weight loss goals, a balanced diet and adequate weight loss exercise.

The diet factor
A balanced diet plays a major role in losing weight fast and keeping fit. Diet plans need to be personalized according to your body type because, each person has distinctive biochemistries. These customized food plans should be carefully developed under the supervision of qualified professionals, after assessing the individual’s medical history and lifestyle.

Excess weight is a condition caused by an amalgamation of genetic and socio-cultural factors, which include metabolic and behavioral elements of one’s lifestyle. Our metabolism determines how fast our body burns calories while at rest. An individual with relatively faster metabolic rate can burn calories faster than people with slower metabolic rate.

Weight-loss diets restrict the intake of specific foods, or food in general, to reduce body weight. Calorie consumption can be reduced by 250-500 per day by substituting most high calorie foods for low fat varieties. Women usually need 1,200-1,400 calories and men need to consume 2,000-2,400 calories per day to maintain healthy weight.

Dieting – A lethal option
Dieting, to lose weight fast is a lethal option. Because when one starves the body, it sends all the wrong signals and the body tend to accumulate food in the form of fat. Reducing the body's food supply causes it to accumulate excess fat as a ‘starvation response’ once normal eating is resumed - meaning dieting leads to small short-term weight loss, then an increase in weight shortly afterwards. This reciprocates to putting on unwanted fat.

Moreover, it is imperative to note that dieting does not actually lead to weight loss in the long term. But it definitely exposes you to the eventualities of being prone to eating disorders like anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa, creating long-term physical imbalance.  The postpartum effects of dieting in women maybe pale skin, hair loss and weakness along with other side-effects or you may end up looking like a dead duck.

Therefore, instead of compromising on diet to lose weight, it is the most proper if you take to an active lifestyle that includes aerobic exercise, a solid weight training program, and a healthy diet.

Diet pills – The ultimate solution
Diet pills or prescription weight-loss drugs are referred to as the ultimate solution for people suffering from morbid obesity where weight loss through diet and exercise fail to yield result. Diet pills are usually prescribed when the Body Mass Index (BMI) increases beyond the normal count of 27, up to 40 in come cases triggering related chronic diseases like diabetes, hypertension or sleep apnea.

But it has to be understood that diet pills are not intended for cosmetic weight loss and should be administered only under the guidance of a medical practitioner in eventualities of obesity related problems.

Exercise - For long term weight loss
No diet or medication will keep the weight off without a regular exercise regime. Exercise is the best and your long-term companion for fast and effective weight loss. A combination of cardio, kickboxing, aerobics and weights - 5 days a week, for 1 to 2 hours, is the fastest way to lose weight.

But exercise should be done within a controlled time-frame and under the guidance of a fitness expert, so that your body metabolism is not affected. It is always recommended to set a realistic goal for losing weight as straining your body unnecessarily could cause metabolic complications in the body.

As more women take to balancing their home and career, time constraint for exercise schedule and sedentary lifestyle proves as a significant barrier to successfully maintaining weight loss and preventing further weight gain, it is important to add more activity in your daily schedule.
